History

Opalite is a man-made stone that is made to look like opal. It was first created in 1972 by a French chemist, named Pierre Gilson. It was originally designed to make a more affordable and available stone that resembled the natural gemstone. This new stone became so popular that it called for its own market, promoting the new name, “opalite.”
